“Courage is about doing what you’re afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you’re scared.”

Neophytes,

The upcoming weeks will consist of many trials that will test your strength, ability, knowledge, and endurance. Up to this point, your journey has been simple and straight, with only a few twists and turns. However, what is ahead of you will require you to be an upstanding, righteous associate member of Pi Kappa Phi.

Be ready every day for a new challenge. So not look to anyone for help but your fellow associate members. These next few days will determine the rest of your course. You must be valiant in maintaining the ideals of Pi Kappa Phi in order to gain the acceptance of brothers.

Tomorrow you will be in coat, shirt, tie and associate membership pin. Tomorrow night at xxxx Post Meridian, you must meet at the Pi Kappa Phi house. Bring you academic regalia and scholastic materials. The night will be long and you may be given time to learn what you must to remain within the educational requirements of associate membership.

As you are away for the holiday celebrating the most impressive resurrection of Christ, you must look back on what you have done this week, reflect on what you have said, and act on what you feel is necessary to secure a position as a brother of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. You will not meet again until Tuesday xx, 200x. This is one last period to spend with those who are currently close to you and to consider what membership means to you. It is also recommended that you use this rest to ensure that your wardrobe is worthy of the Pi Kappa Phi brotherhood. For the majority of your clothing the brand must be easily distinguishable to the eye.

You will be in pin attire on Tuesday and will be lined up in front of the house by xxxx Post Meridian. Be ready, for you will be tested. Your first test is for each of you to obtain a newspaper from Friday until Wednesday and give them to the Chaplain by xxxday at xxxx Post Meridian.

Remember, this week is vital for your success as an associate member. Do not, under any circumstances, fail to complete the tasks asked of you. Be strong and keep this letter close to you at all times.

"Timeless Rush Documents"

Every year, Elon University sponsor's the men's spring fraternity rush in February. The following documents are from my rushing experience back in 2005. While the rushing process is a generally open ritual, it is interesting to compare how fraternity rushing periods differ between fraternities. The following documents are "timeless" elements of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and do not change from year to year. My intention is to provide information about the Pi Kappa Phi the formal rushing process, for the purpose of making comparisons with other greek organizations.
